The third and final T20 International match of the series between India and Ireland is set to take place at Dublin’s Malahide Cricket Ground on Wednesday, August 23. Already in the driver’s seat with an unassailable 2-0 lead, India, captained by Jasprit Bumrah, ascertained their supremacy in the series with a 33-run victory in the second T20I.

In the 2nd match, India relied on stand-out performances from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh, amounting to a total score of 185/5. On the bowling front, Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi shone as they picked up two wickets each, restricting Ireland to 152/8.

Ireland, however, did not go down without a fight with herculean efforts from Andy Balbirnie, who clocked up 72 off 51 balls. Barry McCarthy also made an impact with ball-in-hand, claiming the wickets of Gaikwad and Tilak Varma.

Now, as India seek to clean sweep the series, there may be a debut on the cards for wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma. Ireland, meanwhile, are determined to salvage some pride and put a win on the board.

The weather, however, has the potential to disturb play with rainfall predicted in the early stages of the match. Despite the prospect of rain showers during the first hour of play, the weather is expected to improve as the match proceeds with sunlight anticipated. It is likely that a reduction of overs may occur, though a complete washout is not anticipated.

According to Accuweather, temperatures will fluctuate between 18-19 degrees Celcius, and wind gusts of up to 26 km/h are expected. The match is slated for commencement at 7.30 pm IST.
