Weather update for coming week: IMD issues dense fog warning for north India, Himachal to see rainfall
As per the predictions weather update , a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India between January 10 and January 12. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall likely over Western Himalayan region and light rainfall over the plains of Northwest India during the same period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued warning for dense to very dense fog over north India for the next two to three days.
As per its forecast issued on fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-GilgitBaltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh till January 6.
Yellow Warning issued for Himachal Pradesh by weather update
The Weather Department issued a yellow alert for dense fog in Mandi, Una, Kangra, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts on January 9 and January 10. Despite a brief appearance of the sun, temperatures are likely to be low.
Snowfall in Kashmir
Night temperatures saw a slight increase because of overnight snowfall, though it remained below freezing point. Minimum temperatures were recorded to be at -0.5 degrees Celsius, a surge from the previous night’s -2.5 degrees Celsius. Famous tourist destination Gulmarg continued to shiver at -4.5 degrees Celsius.
The Indo-Gangetic plains are predicted to continue to witness intense dense fog, whereas Northwest India is likely to see a wet spell from January 10 to January 12.

Dense fog is likely to continue across the Indo-Gangetic plains for the next couple of days. Moreover, cold day conditions are expected to be present in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh from January 7 to January 8 and will be there on January 9. Rajasthan will experience it on January 7.
Rainfall Predictions
According to the Met Department, the Northeastern region is likely to receive light showers at many places along with isolated thunderstorms on January 7 and January 8. Isolated hailstorm activity is also expected over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on January 7. Sikkim is expected to experience isolated thunderstorms and hail storm activity today.
Delhi/NCR weather update forecast
The Delhi/NCR is projected to have clear skies, and surface winds from the north-westerly directions will flow with a speed below 6 kmph in the morning. Smog and mild fog are expected to be present at most of the places along with dense fog at isolated regions during night and evening
