MCD Elections 2022 Results LIVE: AAP, BJP neck-and-neck in hard-fought contest
The counting of votes for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election begun at 8 am today that will decide the fate of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress who are contesting against each other. The polls for 250 wards in the national capital were held on December 4. There are a total of 1,349 candidates in the fray and the voter turnout was about 50 percent.
After the exit polls predicted that AAP is poised for a big victory in the polls, the Kejriwal-led party has been extremely hopeful. “I want to congratulate the people of Delhi. I was watching the results yesterday. People have yet again expressed their faith in the AAP,” the Delhi chief minister told reporters on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the election commission has set up 42 counting centres across the city for the counting of votes. Election observers, and 136 engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) have been deployed.

AAP’s Ashok Bhardwaj is leading in Nihal Vihar by 203 votes against Congress’s Mandeep Singh.
JP crosses 100-mark as per official trends
BJP has crossed the 100-mark with lead in 106 seats, according to official trends. AAP is ahead on 59 seats while Congress is still in single digit with lead on seven seats.
Delhi BJP leader confident next Mayor will be from saffron party
“We worked for the disposal of garbage and it continued even during Covid. BJP has worked. That’s why we are confident that the next mayor will be from BJP. Last time too, surveys gave only 50 seats to BJP but we won by tw-thirdd majority,” says Harish Khurana, Delhi BJP leader.
BJP maintains lead in official early trends
The official early trends are proving the exit poll prediction wrong as BJP maintains its lead against AAP. As per official trends, BJP is leading in 66 seats seats, AAP in 30 seats, and Congress in 3 seats.
