‘He is a must’: Shoaib Akhtar hints at cricket legend’s appearance in his upcoming biopic ‘Rawalpindi Express’
Sports biopic has become the trend in film in industry. MS Dhoni’s biopic was a big hit few years back. This year, India great legend Mithali Raj’s biopic was released. And now it’s time for Pakistan cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar, who on Sunday announced the launch of his biopic ‘Rawalpindi Express – Running against the odds’. Taking to Twitter post the announcement, Akhtar had a Q&A session with his fans where he revealed the “must” appearance of a cricket legend in his biopic.
Taking to social media the Pakistan cricket icon wrote, ” Beginning of this beautiful journey. Announcing the launch of my story, my life, my Biopic, “RAWALPINDI EXPRESS – Running against the odds” You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. First foreign film about a Pakistani Sportsman. Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar”. The movie is set to be released on November next year.
Soon after the big announcement, he posted, “Q & A for half an hour about this & a lot more. Use the hashtag #RawalpindiExpressTheFilm and you may get lucky with a response,” on Twitter calling for an interaction with his fans.
It is then that a fan asked him, “Are we going to see a character of Brett Lee in this. @BrettLee_58 #RawalpindiExpressTheFilm”
During the interaction, Akhtar was also asked “One word for Virat Kohli #Rawalpindiexpressthefilm,” and his reply was pricless. He reacted to the post writing, “Legend already.”
Kohli has presently been struggling with the bat which is part of his ongoing century drought that stretches back to November 2019. In 78 innings across formats since his match-winning 136 against Bangladesh in Kolkata in the historic Pink Ball Test, the three-figure mark has eluded the former India captain.
Akhtar is currently the record-holder of the fastest ball being bowled in international cricket. The speedster accomplished the feat during the 2003 World Cup on African soil.
