ICC Champions Trophy 2025 India Squad Announcement LIVE Updates: BCCI selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar are reportedly going to make the squad announcement today.

India and Pakistan are the only two teams left to announce their squads for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Reportedly, the BCCI is waiting for the end of 50 over domestic tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy before finalizing the 15 man squad. Moreover, injury concerns for a few key players is also likley to play a part of the board’s decision of delaying the announcement.

Why is there a delay in India’s squad announcement?

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, uncertainty over the fitness of India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Kuldeep Yadav are the prime reasons for the delay in naming the 15-man squad.

Bumrah had picked up an injury during the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy while Kuldeep has been out of action since the 1st home Test against New Zealand and is currently recovering at NCA, Bengaluru. The wrist spinner is likely to be fit by the end of this month.

News Live: Karun Nair talks about his India comeback

Champions Trophy News Live: Speaking to PTI, Nair said, “I’ve not done anything differently. There is no secret. I think it’s just years of hard work and persistence, you know, the coming together of all of it. And probably you can say, taking each day as a new one and making sure that I respect every single innings that I play,”

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 India Squad Announcement Live Updates: India captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will announce the squads for the three-match ODI series against England and the upcoming Champions Trophy in Mumbai on Saturday.

According to a BCCI statement, the Agarkar-led Men’s Selection Committee will finalise the squads during a meeting on Saturday morning.

Following the meeting, Rohit and Agarkar will address the media at 12:30 PM at Wankhede Stadium. A key topic of interest at the press conference will be the fitness updates of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav.

Bumrah, who experienced back spasms during the second innings of the Sydney Test and did not bowl, faces scrutiny regarding his readiness for the 50-over series. The pacer has a history of back injuries, including a recent one that sidelined him for 11 months before his return in time for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Kuldeep, recovering from hernia surgery in October last year, has resumed bowling at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Varun Chakravarthy thrived under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership at KKR and showcased exceptional form during his T20I comeback.

If Kuldeep Yadav is sidelined due to injury, Chakravarthy could emerge as a strong contender for India’s wrist-spin option.

Notably, Varun Chakravarthy is yet to make his ODI debut.

Senior pacer Mohammed Shami, having participated in domestic matches and the T20I series against England, is expected to make the cut.

Kuldeep Yadav’s fitness will also be a key discussion point, with recent videos of his bowling offering positive signs.

Pacer Prasidh Krishna is another likely inclusion for the Dubai-bound squad.

Karun Nair, the leading run-scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 752 runs, could be in contention, but his chances of breaking into a stacked middle order appear slim.

However, he might receive a call-up for the England ODIs, along with all-rounder Hardik Pandya
