Filing Challenges
Chartered Accountant Himank Singla from SBHS & Associates highlighted several problems plaguing the GST portal over the past two days. These include an inability to file GSTR-1 returns, generate summaries, download old data, or access crucial forms like DRC-01 and RFD-01.
“Recurring glitches like these create significant disruptions, especially during peak filing periods,” Singla remarked. He emphasized the urgent need for a more robust and reliable portal to handle high traffic during critical times.
Concerns Over Penalties
Tax professionals and businesses have raised concerns about potential penalties and late fees due to these delays. Singla noted that the CBIC is expected to issue a formal statement soon regarding an extension of the deadline and measures to address the situation.
Typically, GSTR-1 filing deadlines fall on the 11th of every month, with most businesses filing on the 10th and 11th to ensure compliance. However, the current technical issues are causing widespread frustration and uncertainty.
