Kishore Kumar’s son breaks silence on Aamir Khan playing the legendary singer in upcoming biopic: ‘As per our legal team’s order
Legendary playback singer-actor Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar has addressed rumours of Aamir Khan portraying his father in an upcoming biopic, to be helmed by Anurag Basu.
Amid rumours that Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has been roped in for a biopic on legendary playback singer-actor Kishore Kumar, to be helmed by Jagga Jasoos (2017) and Barfi! (2012) director Anurag Basu, the music giant’s son Amit Kumar has now broken silence on the matter and responded to the speculations.
On Monday, Pinkvilla had reported citing its sources that Aamir Khan and Basu have been in discussions for a Kishore Kumar biopic, which will be produced by Bhushan Kumar. “The Kishore Kumar biopic is a subject close to the heart of Anurag Basu and Bhushan Kumar. Aamir is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has to bring the life of legend to the spectacle. The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most,” the media house quoted one of its source as saying. Reportedly, the actor and director have already had four-five meetings.
Days after this news gained traction online, Kishore Kumar and Ruma Guha Thakurta’s (Ruma Ghosh) son, playback singer-composer Amit Kumar, weighed in, though in a veiled manner. While he didn’t confirm the speculations, he also didn’t dismiss them entirely, leaving room for hope. “Nothing is finalised. As per our legal team’s order we can’t mention any developments,” Hindustan Times quoted the singer as saying.
The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most.” The source added, “Aamir has taken as many as six films into consideration. While the scripts of the Kishore Kumar biopic, (special public prosecutor) Ujjwal Nikam biopic, and (filmmaker) Rajkumar Santoshi’s comedy are locked, Ghajini 2, (filmmakers) Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next and Zoya Akhtar’s next are in the development stage. Of the six films, he will do three for sure and might let go of the other three.” We tried reaching out to Kumar and Basu, but didn’t get a response.
