Cole Palmer voted England fans’ men’s Player of the Year
Cole Palmer defeated Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka to be voted as the England fans’ Player Of The Year for the 2023-24 season. Palmer ended Saka’s winning streak of the award.
Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has been named the England Men’s Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season, the Football Association announced on Tuesday. Palmer, 22, emerged as the fan favorite, surpassing Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, who finished second, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, who had won the award in the previous two years, taking third place this time.
Palmer made his senior debut for England in November 2023 during a 2-0 home victory against Malta and has since earned nine caps. His performances at Euro 2024 included five appearances and two goals, one of which came in England’s final defeat to Spain in Berlin. He also played a pivotal role in the semi-final, assisting Ollie Watkins for a late winner against the Netherlands.
In club football, Palmer has been in excellent form, scoring six goals in seven Premier League matches this season. His award marks the first time a Chelsea player has claimed the honor since Ashley Cole, now England’s assistant coach, won it in 2010.
Chelsea midfielder Palmer, 22, was voted Three Lions’ fans’ favourite player ahead of Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, in second, and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka – the winner of the previous two editions – in third.
Palmer made his England debut in a 2-0 home win over Malta in November 2023 and has gone on to earn nine senior caps, including five appearances at Euro 2024, scoring twice in that period.
