Jr NTR ‘shocked’ by Janhvi Kapoor’s performance in Devara; Saif Ali Khan ‘panicked’ on first day of shoot: ‘Sweat started dripping down my t-shirt’

Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, who are set to make their Telugu film debut with Jr NTR’s Devara, discussed their experience working on the project and dealing with language barriers.

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are set to make their Telugu film debut with Jr NTR’s highly-anticipated film Devara. Recently, the cast sat down to discuss their experience working on the project with Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. During the conversation, Saif and Janhvi opened up about the challenges they faced while shooting in a language unfamiliar to them, and how director Koratala Siva played a crucial role in guiding and encouraging them throughout the process.

As the highly anticipated action drama Devara: Part 1 gears up for its theatrical release on September 27th, the film’s lead actress Janhvi Kapoor has managed to win over her co-star Jr. NTR with her impressive performance. In a recent conversation with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Jr. NTR expressed his surprise at Janhvi’s fluency in Telugu, considering this is her first film in the language.

“I was shocked when I saw her,” Jr NTR admitted. “She is a girl from Bombay, how much will she know?” he jokingly asked, acknowledging that even though Janhvi has South Indian roots, speaking Telugu can be challenging for some. However, his tune quickly changed as he continued, “But she was (snaps his finger to gesture he was impressed with her). There was a scene in which this woman just went all out.”

Jr. NTR’s revealed that even director Koratala Siva, who was closely monitoring the scene, turned to Jr NTR for his reaction, clearly impressed by Janhvi’s acting prowess.I was shocked. I thought this girl has come from Mumbai, what would she know?” Saif Ali Khan chimed in, mentioning Janhvi’s South Indian roots, referring to her late mother, veteran actor Sridevi, whose mother tongue was Telugu. “She has South Indian roots,” he said. Jr NTR agreed but added, “But still, sir, speaking in Telugu… she was just brilliant. She went all out. Siva was watching her performance, and I was raising my hand in appreciation. She was fabulous.” “I was like… she was fabulous. I was shocked,” Jr NTR concluded, clearly taken aback by Janhvi’s ability to deliver a powerful performance in a language that is not her native tongue.

Janhvi, on the other hand, was overjoyed by Jr NTR’s kind words, stating, “My day is made. I feel like I can leave the interview now and not worry about anything else.”

Later Janhvi also added, “Its weird for me to say but I feel that more when I perform and speak in Telugu. I don’t know if it makes sense. It just felt like home to me.”

For the unversed, Janhvi Kapoor will be marking her Telugu debut with this film. The film, directed by Koratala Siva, also stars Saif Ali Khan and is also the first Telugu movie he worked on.

Apart from this film, Janhvi Kapoor has signed another Tollywood film and will be paired up with yet another superstar, Ram Charan in the upcoming ‘RC16’ directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
