Chandrayaan-3 LIVE Updates: Chandrayaan-3 inches closer to moon after successful orbit reduction manoeuvre
The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on Sunday successfully entered the lunar orbit. If the rest of the current mission goes to plan, the mission will safely touch down near the Moon’s little-explored south pole between August 23 and 24. Since its launch on July 14, ISRO has been lifting the spacecraft into orbits farther and farther away from Earth.
LIVE Updates: Next orbit reduction manoeuvre to take place on August 9
LIVE updates: After the successful upgradation of Chandrayaan-3 orbit on Sunday night, next orbit reduction manoeuvre will be performed on August 9, ISRO said in a tweet.

ISRO releases Moon’s video as seen from Chandrayaan-3
A day after Chandrayaan-3 entered the lunar orbit, the ISRO on Sunday released a video of the Moon ‘as viewed by Chandrayaan-3’.
The space agency put out the video with a caption “Chandrayaan-3 Mission: The Moon, as viewed by Chandrayaan-3 during Lunar Orbit Insertion”.
The video showed the Moon in bluish green colour with many craters.
The video was released hours before the second major manoeuvre which is to take place on late Sunday night.

Significance of Chandrayaan 3 for India
If the robotic lunar rover of Chandrayaan successfully lands on the moon, India will achieve the distinction of being the fourth country to have mastered the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface, following the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union. Chandrayaan-3 marks the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) second attempt in the span of four years, with its initial lunar mission, Chandrayaan-1, taking place in 2008. Unfortunately, the subsequent mooncraft mission, Chandrayaan-2, encountered failure during its lunar phase when its lander named ‘Vikram’ crash-landed due to anomalies in the braking system while attempting a soft landing on September 7, 2019.
